Chiropractic FAQs
What conditions may chiropractic care help with?
Chiropractic care may assist with back pain, neck pain, some types of headaches, joint and muscle pain, sciatica, posture-related discomfort and certain sports or work-related injuries. We assess your symptoms and movement to identify contributing factors and tailor your care.
How does chiropractic care work?
Care may combine joint manipulation or mobilisation, soft-tissue techniques, dry needling, exercise and practical advice. Treatment aims to reduce discomfort, improve movement and help you return to your usual activities.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic care is generally considered safe when provided by a qualified practitioner. Before treatment, we review your health history and complete an assessment to ensure the techniques are appropriate for you. Temporary soreness or stiffness can occasionally occur.
How long are consultations?
Initial consultations take approximately 45–60 minutes. Standard consultations are 15–20 minutes, while extended consultations take 30–40 minutes when additional assessment or treatment is required.
What causes the popping sound?
The sound sometimes heard during an adjustment is caused by pressure changes and gas moving within the joint. It is not your bones rubbing together or being put back into place. A popping sound is not required for treatment to be effective.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your chiropractor will discuss your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and goals before completing a physical assessment. Your findings and treatment options will be explained clearly. Treatment may be provided at the first visit when it is appropriate and safe to do so.
How often will I need treatment?
This depends on your condition, symptoms and goals. We will recommend a plan based on your assessment and regularly review your progress. You are not required to commit to a long-term treatment plan.
Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Adjustments are not normally painful, and techniques can be modified to suit your comfort. Some people experience temporary soreness or stiffness afterward, which generally settles within a short period.
